6:49 pm - Writer's Block: From A to Z

Using one word for each letter of the alphabet, make a list of the words you most associate with yourself or that you feel best describe you.

Eh. Saw this and figured, "Why not?" So here's my A to Z, mostly about my fics, with a dash of me, if I have to. Some of this you'll already know, but I'd like to think there are some tidbits of interest sprinkled in between.

Abel: one of two Supernatural fics I'm currently writing. The buildup to and story of the apocalypse, from Dean's point of view. Sort of.

Bridge: hands down, my favorite Ranger ever. He's he reason I converted to being a Green Ranger.

Cain: the other Supernatural fic I'm writing. It's the sister fic to Abel, being the same story from Sam's point of view.

Dean: I can't help it. I love the boy. Course, it could be that he reminds me of myself... And honestly, I love writing him. It's so damn fun.

Even If It Kills Me: the Doctor Who fic I'm working on right now. It's just a bunch of oneshots strung together based on the Motion City Soundtrack CD of the same name, because every time I listen to the damn CD, all I hear are the stories of the Doctor and Rose. I had to get them out of my head.

Fortis: the older brother to Ignos, and founder of Fortesian magic. He's also the son of Pravus and Lux, and the direct ancestor of Udonna's father.

God: someone, or something, that Supernatural has suddenly gotten me to question the existance of. Dammit, Kripke!

Had a Brain: one of the oneshots in my planned Office fic, "If I Only." This one centers around Michael and if he actually had some sense.

Ignos: the younger brother of Fortis, and son of Pravus and Lux. He established the branch of fire magic. He's the patron saint of Nick.

Jeannette: a possible love interest for Xander, if he could ever find her again. Well, when he does find her again.

Kill: something I generally don't do to my main characters. I don't kill them off just to make a fic seem 'serious.' If I'm going to kill someone, it had better be for a damn good reason, fic-wise.

Lost Children: a Doctor Who self-insert that I really ought to give up on. Honestly, I lost the notebook. That should be a sign.

Medusa Corp: All of your problems, nonexistant.

Necrolai: has way more on her plate than I'd originally planned, as well. Thanks to the suggestion of a valued reviewer, her descent into goodness should be far more believable. For now, though, she's still very wicked... ^_^

Orange Ranger: there's always the possibility. After all, that's Reiku's color, and if Imperious was to be knocked out of power... Reiku could claim a Knight of his own.

Pan Kris: formerly belonging to the faun Pan, who may or may not have been inspired by Greek myths. A powerful magical artifact that can only be wielded by Earth magicians. It's power is based on the power of its current owner. Among its most notable powers is a sudden increase in the allure of its owner.

Quentin: a random name I came up with, just fill in the Q spot. (As far as you know...)

Romance: I can't help but write it, especially in CoD/CoL. It is, after all, a fairy tale with Power Rangers, and fairy tales always have love. All sorts of couples, obvious and otherwise, crop up in CoL, alongside the established pairings of Madison/Nick and Udonna/Leanbow. Of course, Leelee/Phineas will be in there!

Science Fiction Double Feature: this idea that I'm working on. Basically, I write two fics for separate fandoms, based on the same plotline, or general idea. The first one is a Doctor Who/Supernatural double feature, both involving the characters suddenly forced to sing the more intense moments or thoughts.

Threads of Gold: an interesting oneshot I'll get around to writing one day. It was born in my mind after lots of little bits and pieces came together. Sort of an AU for Doctor Who after series two, but who knows?

Unstuck: what my mind came up with after I watched Back to the Future and read Slaughterhouse Five. Not necessarily the exact same, though: Marty can kind of 'see' all the possibilities of the past and the future, if he doesn't block them out. It's the curse of excessive, unprotected time travel.

Vampires: way more complex than I'd originally thought. Seems to be the general idea for CoD/CoL. Leelee is their queen right now, but I haven't quite figured everything out yet, cos she's half human, half royal vamp. I do know that there are good vamps, like Leelee, who try not to kill humans, just take enough to survive, and there are bad vamps, like Necrolai, who kill those they feed on for the full strength. The good vamps will rally around Leelee in the end, while the bad vamps will choose the Darkness. After the war, Leelee will campaign at COUNTV on behalf of her good vamps.

War: is basically an inevitability in CoL. Hopefully, I'll be able to capture the scale that I'm imagining, cos I'm imagining a pretty grand, brutal war.

Xander: cos it actually starts with an X. He is quite a bit of fun to write, and I try to give him some layers like the last few eps of the show tried to do.

Yeah, I got nothing.

Zilch: as in, my writing ethic in the past few months. Gah... I got better?

7:11 pm - Bits and Pieces

Well, I've been working on my fics again lately. Not writing them on paper, necessarily; that Muse is taking an extended vacation in the Caribbean. No, but I've begun typing again. It'll still be a while (I have twenty-plus pages on paper to transcribe), but at least I'm sort of up and running again.

And so I have a blurb and some random info for you guys. It's not CoL--sorry--but it is from the related Rangers of Chaos. It's the other half of my Predecessors story. I hope it lives up to expectations, and gives some insight into the previous Mystic Warriors. If it goes over well, I might write the history of the Ancients as a story as well. Right now, it's only a messy timeline that needs age adjustments and more key events realigned. But at least it exists, yeah?

Anyway, the blurb and info, right. First, my notes on the original Mystic Warriors from Predecessors.

------

Leanbow: Red Mystic Warrior. Father of Nick, married to Udonna and chosen one of Fortis. Was Red Mystic Warrior because of his fire powers; originally believed to be the avatar of Ignos. A driven man, full of passion. Willing to defend his family to the end. Outspoken. Brought a strong sense of morals and justice to the team.

Lior: Blue Mystic Warrior. A calm, quiet psychic and artist. Knew when to speak and when not to. Serious, but knows when to relax. Quite empathic and intuitive. Always willing to help those in need. Words were always well thought out and deliberate. Very good at drawing/painting. Often illustrated the books Calindor kept. Name meaning "I see."

Cordula "Cordy": Pink Mystic Warrior. The heart and soul of the team. She comforted and connected them even through the toughest times. Connects with everyone she meets. Very active and loving. Friends with Elouan since childhood. Brought out the best in everyone. Loved to sew and sing. Name meaning "little heart."

Elouan: Yellow Mystic Warrior. A healer and potion master. Always imagining a new potion or idea. A little "out there." Could pull together anything into a potion or plan. Brought an irrepressible energy to the team. Could always lighten a heavy mood, but became gravely serious when things got bad enough. Very talkative. Sort of like Adam from Mythbusters. Used to be a traveling potion master, but had many eclectic talents (juggling, gymnastics, etc.) Name meaning "good light."

Fergus: Green Mystic Warrior. Grounded the team. A strong individual who was most ravaged by war. Physically, very strong, but emotionally as well. It takes a lot to make him angry/depressed. Quiet, friendly, responsible. Treats his plants as individuals. Could be found tending plants in the middle of the night occasionally. Patient. Name meaning "strong man."

Udonna: Avatar of Cias. Mother of Nick, wife of Leanbow, sister of Niella. Kind, intelligent young woman, occasionally prone to cold harshness. Tried to contain the mini-chaos of the group.

Niella: Gatekeeper and avatar of Luria. Mother of Clare, sister of Udonna, wife of Ambrose. A bit flighty and absent-minded, but able to focus when it comes down to the wire. Loved her family to death; died protecting them.

Ambrose: Husband of Niella, father of Clare. Thought to be the avatar of Fortis. An expert smith--made most all of the main groups' weapons. Even-headed, more in control of his emotions, but also playful, especially with Clare and later Bowen/Nick. Leader in Leanbow's stead. Name meaning "immortal."

Daggeron: Avatar of Solus. Apprentice of Leanbow. A headstrong young man, but ready to help a friend no matter the cost to him. Fiercely loyal, but cannot stand traitors. A knight in training, alongside Calindor. Disappeared during the Great Battle.

Calindor: Avatar of Reiku. Sarcastic, sometimes standoffish. Constantly reading a book and searching for more knowledge. Took the knowledge he gathered and applied it in new ways, developing tons of new spells. Wrote down everything in books.

------

Just to tease (and maybe to get my Muse to catch an early flight home), here's a sampling of my character notes for the Dark Wish adaptation. Besides, maybe one person actually reads this anyway, so what am I spoiling?

------

Madison - Quiet, reserved. Her parents’ execution pushed her further inward and into Chip’s arms. Doesn’t fight much - she simply gathers knowledge from behind books and the few surviving computers to combat the enemy.

Vida - Vengeful, bloodthirsty. Wants the utter destruction of the darkness. Her parents’ execution had the opposite effect on her as it did on Madison. A brilliant strategist and commander, but very single-minded.

Chip - Like Vida, but less intense about it. His uncle’s execution killed his fun, playful side, forcing him to become a cynical and jaded adult who no longer sees the world as black and white. Comforted Madison when she came to him. They are now a couple.

Xander - Desperate for peace. The execution of his family drove him to try and hold everything together within the only family he had left, his friends. He tries as hard as he can to hold them all together when Vida’s vindictive rage, Chip’s pessimism and Maddie’s reservation slowly destroy what they used to have.

------

And now for the blurb...

------

To say that she was surprised was an understatement. She moved her mouth, but no words would come out. Her hand gripped the door handle, knuckles appropriately white, as he smiled slightly at her. She knew she must have looked like a fish struggling for air, but at least she wasn’t flailing about. Yet.

"Hello, Udonna," he said pleasantly, as if he wasn’t a demi-god standing in her doorway and they were in fact old friends. "I don’t believe we’ve formally met, but I take it you know who I am." Finally, words seemed to unclog themselves in her throat.

"Snow Prince," she managed. "I-I wasn’t aware..."

2:09 pm - I'm Trying, Really, I Am

So... It's been a while. Quite a while.

I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

I guess I'm spreading myself too thin. Trying to have a social life, job and four fanfics at once is apparently not the great idea I'd once hoped. And school starts soon. Brilliant. As it is, I hardly have time to write a page or two each night. I'm not abandoning any of my fics, though. I'm going to see each one to their proper end, whether I know where that is right now or not.

And I wish I could give yu guys a little teaser or something, but I've got nothing.

Sorry.

I promise to update any of my fics eventually.

Pinky swear, even though I'm not allowed to.

10:13 am - Working, Slowly Working
Hello there. *waves* I'm not dead.

Not that anyone really reads this.

First, I'm happy to say that I finished My Bloody Valentine. It took a few months of finding my motivation to type again, but it's out now. It's probably the crack!fic-iest thing I've ever written. Well, intentionally crack!fic-y.  I mean, I've written some really bad stuff in the past that was probably more crack!fic-y than I intended it to be...

But that's not the point. It's out and it was a whole lot of fun to write. I don't often get to make fun of these characters, mostly because I write them into characters I like without actually changing much of their canon personalities (except for Nick - his canon persona kind of evolved into, you know, a good person and leader). Writing them from a jeering point of view was so much fun. ^_^ I got to vent what I didn't like about the show while still maintaining the purity of my AU. And I got to do some stuff/make some pairings I never would have otherwise.

I've finished up the rough draft of the last two chapters for The Doctor's Office, plus found a brilliant new idea for the next arc. Just one hint: the Zed word. ^_~

Anyway, that's been put on the backburner for the time being so I can type up a long overdue chapter of Children of Light. It's coming sort of slowly. I'm in the middle of the third scene, which is longer than the first two by far. This chapter is a whole lot of action, which I'm not the greatest at, but I'm doing my best. I finally finished the rough draft, though, and the whole this came out to 74 pages on paper.

I'm just not sure about the last scene. It's a fairly short (three pages) scene from Toby's point of view. It's written in a different way than most of my other stuff, but I like how it turned out. The problem? It involves several buildings, with people in them, collapsing. I don't know if that's too much, especially after 9/11. I realize it's been six years and in wars/battles like the ones in CoL, these things happen. I'm just not sure if it's too much.

Aside from that inner struggle, I've started a new story for Rangers of Chaos. Yeah, it's almost like I'd forgotten it. Really, I just need to find a good spot to pause in CoL so I could write it. This one is mostly backstory from Udonna's POV, but it's all set before the Great Battle. It's basically an introduction to the Mystic Rangers' precursors, the Mystic Warriors. So far, I'm liking it. Not everyone is exactly the same as the Rangers. They have similar traits, being of the same element, but their personalities are their own.

Anyway, must stop rambling. I have more stories to type than I know what to do with. If anyone wants to offer their opinion about my CoL scene issue, I'm open to your thoughts. Until then, hasta luego!

Okay, it's been quite a few months since Chapter Five went up. I really should be working on Chapter Six, but my writer's block for CoL is nigh-lethal. I'm going to try to get it up when I can. I promise I will finish the story, though. I hate when an author abandons their story without an explanation, and I don't have one. Besides, I love CoD/CoL. I just can't get through the fights. Really. I'm terrible at them. They destroy me.

Anyway, I'm currently working on a new fic to occupy myself while my CoL muse vacations. It's a Doctor Who/Office crossover called, guess what, The Doctor's Office. Yeah. Muy clever. It's been way fun writing it, though, because Jim reminds me so much of the Doctor, in his own, regenerated personality way. Yeah, Jim's the Doctor in it. Pam's his companion (well, duh), and their enemy... Nah. That's too much fun. Instead, I have a small excerpt. It's not like many people (or any) read this at all.

Suddenly, he was on the roof of her car, and she was again terrified, more so now than she had ever been. The psychotic gleam in his eyes, the only display of emotion in his otherwise stoic face, was absolutely inhuman, and it drilled into her with furious intent. In the few empty seconds he spent perched on her roof, she could feel only her own dread of what was to follow, the primal fear that a rabbit feels just before a wolf clamps down around its small body, and then the cool hand that slipped into her own, bringing a needed calmness to her mental state. Her eyes rose to meet that crooked smile, even though she already knew who it was, and suddenly everything felt alright again. Maybe this wasn’t some sort of freak engrossed in exterminating her, and maybe there wasn’t that strange electric charge in the air that made everything feel alive and dangerous.

"Hi," she said, hushed. She smiled sweetly, and he returned it with his own.

"Hi," Jim replied. Maybe it was the manic edge to his single word or the excited glimmer in his brown eyes, but she was instantly pulled back into their insane reality, and that was only the beginning. "Now run!"

God, I'm so lazy. It's almost been two months since I posted Chapter Five. I'm angry with myself for not being so vigilant about Chapter Six, but its been slow coming. I'm not even done with the rough draft yet. Blame a bad case of senioritis (even though I'm a sophomore) and the fact that Chapter Six is a ton of action sequences, which I'm terrible with. Right now, it's pushing 65 pages on paper and I'm not even halfway through the bare essentials of what the plotline needs. It's beginning to look like Chapter Seven will be apart of the Gatekeeper arc, too, otherwise Chapter Six will take an eon to write.

One a side note, I wrote a short one-shot to help with my writer's block (another delay on Chapter Six). It's loosely based on the Good Charlotte song My Bloody Valentine, and it's based within the continuity of the show, not CoD/CoL. It was interesting to write on my part, because my AU Nick is much more likeable, at least in my mind, and I bash him in this fic quite often. It sort of fucks around with the characters and what happened to them after the finale. I had a lot of fun though. It's pretty much my own crackfic, minus leprechauns and Mpreg. *shudders*

On another, random note, I've discovered a new obsession. Chocolate-covered espresso beans. Pure pwnage.

...Anyway, my MBV crackfic thingy should be ready within a week or so, and then I'll begin working on Chapter Six. With school out, I should be able to get more work in, not to mention get to reading the 28 books I have laying around. Here's hoping!

12:18 pm - Not Dead
Like the title says, I'm not dead. Just distracted and aggrevated.

Chapter Five is really long (70 pages on paper), but I'm finally finding the time now to write it. Our play ended (and with it, the thirty year era of our director) and SchoBo is all but over, so I have a lot of free time now.

Unfortunately, my brother has discovered some strange love with the computer where I keep my story files, making it difficult to find time to type. Little jerk needs to play more PlayStation.

In my favor, I am on spring break for the next eight days and I only have 39 pages left right now. Here's hoping it gets done by the end of the week. I really hate that it's been over a month, but I'm working as best as I can. Besides, my darling Joe likes to give me a good kick in the ass from time to time. And, of course, likes to mess with me. I'm seriously disturbed because of him. I only love him more for it, though. Blame him for Skank!Vida.

Anyway, here's a taster of Chapter Five for anyone who wants it.

"Trudging down the hallway, hand in hand with Nick, Madison could hardly hear what he was saying. Something to the effect getting revenge on Kendall, and definitely something she should’ve been telling him off for thinking about. His words barely registered with her, though, not when she had this throbbing headache. It had been bothering her all day, coming and going as it pleased. She had tried every remedy in the book and absolutely every one had failed, leaving her with the persistently random feeling that her head was being rendered in two from the inside out.

"Are you okay?" Nick asked suddenly, breaking through the haze in her mind and, for the most part, driving it away. A dull thud still resided just beyond her temples, resounding from a place that no amount of massaging could reach. She gazed up at her boyfriend, and he added worriedly, "You look kind of out of it, and I keep getting these bits of pain from you. Is everything alright?" She wasn’t quite sure of how to answer him, not knowing whether or not she really was okay herself.

"I just have a really bad headache," she answered finally. "It’s either my vision from yesterday, still haunting me, or a brain tumor. Take your pick."

"The visions, thank you very much," Nick replied seriously, "because if it’s the brain tumor, I’ll find a way to save you, by spell or by healing. There’s no way I’m just going to let you die, not if I can help it." She rolled her eyes, the light pain now barely noticeable, and stopped at her locker, putting the few notebooks she was carrying into it.

"Cry me a river, Anakin," she said, slamming the metal door shut and walking away, Nick not far behind. "One, it was just a joke. No need to overreact or anything. Two, when I die, I die. We all have to sometime, and my time will come eventually. Life goes on. We’re in a dangerous line of work as it is.""

And another, for your reading pleasure.

"Moving away from the students fleeing into the designated safe zones within the building, they ducked behind a bunch of trees used to liven up the outdoor lunchroom. Checking around them to assure that all of the other students were either inside or unable to see them, Nick nodded.

"We’re good. Uthe sastos ozarro," he murmured, raising his arm above the group. A spell seal flew up from his fingertips, swallowing the group from above and spiriting them away to a downtown alley. Looking around after they’d fully materialized, Nick couldn’t help but shake his head. "Can’t they ever find a different place to fight? Old teams got to fight in open parks and mountain ranges, and what do we get? Crowded downtown streets." Xander patted the leader’s shoulder with faux sympathy.

"Gotta go with what you’re given, mate. Can’t help it if we got the unoriginal villains," he replied consolingly. "Now, are you ready for this?"

"Always. You guys ready?" the Red Wizard asked the other three.

"Ready," they each answered, wands out.

"Magical source, Mystic Force!""

2:54 pm - Chapter Four is Up!

Yes, Chapter Four of Children of Light is up. Go me. I really should come up with more creative chapter titles, though... >_> I was thinking of Discoveries for Chapters 1-3. Good? Bad? Anybody?

Sorry about the lack of real action in Chapter Four. It was mostly there to set up this whole arc. Hopefully, you all liked it. It was a lot of fun to write, even if I did labor for two-and-a-half hours to write the last few pages and get it up. I actually finished it yesterday, but FF.net was being mean and kept giving me this error report, so I had to wait until today.

It did end up being longer than I'd envisioned, though. CoL is definitely going to be longer than CoD. With just four chapters, I'm at 56 pages on Word. CoD was 160, and that's with seventeen chapters. Chapter Five should be fun, as we get some action and truth-revealing, and it introduces an interesting new concept: Skank!Vida. Blame Joe. And don't ask. Just wait and see.

Anyway, with nothing more to say, here's a some more notes to amuse yourselves with, short character descriptions I keep around for fun. Keep in mind, all ages are as of right now. Nick's going to be having a birthday very soon(the two-year age discrepency is because his real birthday is in May, but his regular birthday is in August), followed by Xander, then Chip and finally Madison and Vida (they just had birthdays back in CoD). I know, confusing. Deal.

Nickolaus Aaron Russell
Age: 17 (technically 19)
Gender: Male
Eyes: Green (flecked with red as of CoD)
Hair: Dark brown, almost black
Height: 5'9"
Born: May 1987; birthday in August 1988
Notes: Adopted. Has a older sister, Gracey. His adoptive parents are constantly abroad for work, leaving Nick to stay with his local family, most often his grandparents. Moved to Briarwood to live with his sister Gracey for his senior year. Real parents are Leanbow and Udonna. Is half dark and half light, but resembles a dark child. Has balanced magic, but works for the light. Dating Madison.

Madison Kindra Rocca
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Eyes: Light grey-ish blue
Hair: Dark brown
Height: 5'5"
Born: July 1989
Notes: Vida's fraternal twin. Dating Nick. Able to use some dark magic because of her connection to Nick.

Xander Keaton Bly
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown
Height: 5'11"
Born: November 1988
Notes: An only child.

Vida Araceli Rocca
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Eyes: Light green-blue
Hair: Brown w/highlights
Height: 5'6"
Born: July 1989
Notes: Madison's fraternal twin.

Charles Lucien Thorn
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Red
Height: 5'10"
Born: January 1989
Notes: Nicknamed Chip. Hates being called Charles, or by his full name. Only survivor of the house fire that killed his parents and sister, Elle (nicknamed Elly). Now lives with his uncle.

>Yeah, they don't have very interesting notes. Just things to keep stuff straight in my mind. As far as general notes go, I can't post too many without giving away some plot. Sorry. You may get some edited versions, though.

3:11 pm - The Ancients
'Tis I, MoonGoddessShadow. On RangerBoard, I go by Miss Wicked, but that's a minor detail. Instead of spending the time creating a website for my fanfics, I just decided to come here. LiveJournal is way easier to deal with.

Anyway, I'm just going to start this whole thing off with something a few readers have requested: a master list for the Ancients. Enjoy!

Ignos
The Ancient of Fire and Nick’s patron Ancient. Spell word - "Ig". He is the brother of Fortis.

Levitas
The Ancient of Lightning and Light and Chip’s patron Ancient. Spell Word - "Lev".

Viscan
The Ancient of Earth and Xander’s patron Ancient. Spell word - "Visc".

Aerika
The Ancient of Air and Vida’s patron Ancient. Spell word - "Aer".

Undelle
The Ancient of Water and Madison’s patron Ancient. Spell word - "Und".

Cias
The Ancient of Snow and Ice and Udonna’s patron Ancient. Spell Word - "Ce". Has a son, the Snow Prince, who was born after her change to Ancient, making him immortal.

Solus
The Ancient of the Sun and Daggeron’s patron Ancient. Spell Word - "Sol". Chooses only men to become Solaris Knights.

Luria
The Ancient of the Moon and the patron of all Gatekeepers. Spell Word - "Lua". Chooses only women to be her avatar, the Gatekeeper, and tries to pass it from mothers to daughters, if at all possible.

Fortis
The Ancient of Warrior Magic and Bravery, and Leanbow’s patron Mystic. Spell Word - "Fors". Takes the strongest warrior, magically and physically, as his avatar. Helped his brother Ignos develop fire magic before branching off to his own magic, giving his own followers a minor control over fire.

Reiku
The Ancient of Knowledge. Spell Word - "Riu". His few followers, eternal seekers of knowledge, can use small portions of each branch of magic after studying each, making them versatile but not exceptionally strong.

Aika
The Ancient of Time. Spell Word - "Ai". No longer supports her magic because it was abused, and punishes those who try to use it.

Pravus
Once best friend to Fortis and mentor to the Ancients, he joined the dark rebellion and led them, as Fortis led the light. He, too, forged a more powerful body and became the epitome of all dark magic. Eventually died like the others when they joined together to fight against the humans, but only to insure that his power would live on and that his people would have a place in the new dimension. Ascended to an omnipotent state like the others and now fuels all dark magic. Spell word - "Rava".

Luxulieris
Ancient of all good magic. Once a mentor to the Ancients, she was crushed when Pravus joined the darkness. Helped create the Underworld with Luria. Spell Word - "Lux".
